The sequel to Jason Statham’s hit 2024 action movie, The Beekeeper, is coming out internationally before its domestic release. The first Beekeeper film was a box office success, opening at number one and staying in the top ten for two months, and also sold very well online.
Okay, so the first movie centers around a former government hitman who’s trying to live a quiet life. But things take a dark turn when his sweet, elderly landlady is tragically scammed and takes her own life. It’s not just grief for him, though; it’s a full-blown revenge mission as he sets out to find the people who ruined her life. It’s a pretty compelling setup, honestly.
The Beekeeper 2 gets early release date in Germany
The sequel to The Beekeeper, starring Jason Statham, will hit theaters in Germany on January 14, 2027. Moviegoers in the United States and the United Kingdom will be able to see it the following day, January 15.
Leonine Studios, a company based in Munich, has obtained the rights to distribute the film throughout German-speaking Europe. However, Prime Video will still handle the initial pay-TV release (according to Variety).
Black Bear Pictures will manage international distribution of the film, including in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia, according to Deadline. In the United States, Amazon MGM Studios – which handled the first film – will again distribute the sequel, as they co-produced it with Miramax.
Timo Tjahjanto, known for directing ‘Nobody 2’, directed this film based on a script by Umair Aleem. Jason Statham helped produce the movie alongside Kurt Wimmer, who originally wrote the story, and Chris Long.
Jason Statham is returning as Adam Clay, a highly-trained assassin who goes by The Beekeeper. Several actors from the first film are also back, including Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jemma Redgrave, and Jeremy Irons. Joining the cast this time are Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland.
According to director Timo Tjahjanto’s Instagram, filming began in September 2025 and finished in November 2025, taking about three months to complete.
The first movie made $162.6 million worldwide on a budget of around $40 million. It was well-received by both critics and viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave it a 71% rating, while audiences loved it even more, with a 92% score. Metacritic showed a more mixed reaction, giving it a Metascore of 53 and a user score of 6.0.
