A few years ago, SEGA revealed a bunch of new games all at once, hoping to bring back some of its classic series.
Currently, only one of these games, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, has been released. The others are still in development and haven’t been revealed yet.
SEGA’s recent earnings report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 suggests things might be starting to change.
The company announced plans to launch four new games based on its most popular franchises between April 2026 and March 2027.
The report also includes a planned release timeline for games that have already been announced. While specific dates aren’t provided, it mentions Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage – all titles that are currently in development.
So, there’s a chance we might see some of these games released within the next year, and the possibility of a new Crazy Taxi game coming out even sooner is really thrilling.
SEGA’s “mainstay IPs” likely include popular, ongoing franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and Like a Dragon. The four games they’ve mentioned probably cover a variety of these series, and it’s great to see what they’re planning.
