As a huge movie fan, I’m really encouraged by how well Superman did – it feels like James Gunn’s new DC Universe is starting off strong! We don’t know all the details about what DC films are coming, or when, but one thing seems pretty safe to say: we’re definitely going to see other major heroes, like Wonder Woman, get their time to shine eventually.
Bringing Wonder Woman to life on screen requires an actress to play the part, and several names have been floated as possibilities, like Ana de Armas and Adria Adjorna. However, Alexandra Daddario has been a popular fan choice for a long time. In an interview with ScreenRant, Daddario expressed her enthusiasm for potentially working with James Gunn, but was surprised to learn that fans have been actively campaigning for her to be cast as Wonder Woman.
It would be fantastic to work with James Gunn in any role, but I hadn’t heard anything about that possibility.
It’s understandable that Alexandra Daddario is probably too busy to keep up with what people are saying about her online. However, given the huge amount of fan art imagining her as Wonder Woman, it’s surprising that no one has shown her some of it.
The way Rosario Dawson was cast as Ahsoka Tano proves that studios pay attention when fans strongly support a particular actress for a role. While it doesn’t guarantee the casting will happen, someone like James Gunn is almost certainly aware of fan campaigns, such as the one wanting Alexandra Daddario to play Wonder Woman.
James Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe always included a Wonder Woman project, initially a series called Paradise Lost. Now, Gunn has confirmed that a separate Wonder Woman project is currently in the early stages of development. With this news, we can expect to see a surge in fan art, even if actress Alexandra Daddario doesn’t personally see it – she’s grateful for all the support. She also mentioned…
To be honest, I haven’t had a chance to look at any of the fan art, but I’m really touched to hear people are creating it!
Several actors, including Alan Ritchson, a popular choice to play Batman, have publicly expressed their desire for roles in the DC Universe. While Alexandra Daddario hasn’t directly stated she wants to be Wonder Woman or would even consider the part if offered, she hasn’t ruled it out either.
James Gunn has stated he doesn’t begin considering actors until the script is finished, meaning he currently wouldn’t be able to say who would be best for the role of Wonder Woman. However, it’s a good guess that Alexandra Daddario’s name will come up in discussions, and there are plenty of images online showing what she might look like in the part.
