Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy, is returning to television. He’s developing a new crime drama for MGM+ set in the past. The show is currently titled Book of Kash, but that name might be changed before it airs.
The show is expected to follow a private investigator working in Los Angeles in the late 1950s, a time when the city was rapidly growing and changing. This era saw a surge in crime and power struggles, and the LAPD responded with strict and often uncompromising policing methods.
Kurt Sutter will write, oversee, and executive produce the new series through his production company, SutterInk. He’s previously created and worked on popular crime dramas like The Shield, Sons of Anarchy, and Mayans M.C., but this marks his first venture into the noir genre. However, based on early descriptions, Book of Kash promises to be just as intense and violent as his previous work.

Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy, is teaming up with Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Game of Thrones) for a new Apple TV series called Nomad. Momoa will play a man immersed in the dangerous world of New Zealand’s motorcycle gangs, struggling to reconcile his conflicting loyalties and choose his true path. Think Sons of Anarchy but set in New Zealand, offering a different vibe than Momoa’s other upcoming project, Book of Kash.
TV shows focusing on important moments in the history of crime and law enforcement are becoming more and more popular. Series like AMC’s Hell on Wheels, Peaky Blinders, and Netflix’s House of Guinness have helped fuel this trend.
