Sony has made a new free download available on PlayStation Network for owners of both PS5 and PS4 consoles (including the Pro versions). While it seems like a permanent offer, Sony hasn’t officially confirmed how long it will last. If you’re a fan of Ghost of Tsushima or its sequel, Ghost of Yotei, it’s best to download it now to make sure you don’t miss out.
Okay, so this just dropped – Sony randomly released a bunch of free PSN avatars for Ghost of Tsushima! There are eight of them total, showing off different characters from the game. It’s kinda weird though, the main character, Atsu, isn’t one of them. She’s been a bit controversial, but still, it’s strange to leave her out of the avatar pack.
Free Codes
The code to unlock this set of Ghost of Yotei avatars on the PlayStation Store varies by region. If you’re in North or South America, use code 8GGE-5H6P-QMTC. For Europe and Australia, the code is QEH9-3Q25-5QMB. Players in Asia, Korea, and Japan should use codes BD8B-8C53-6CND, 6HP7-NHQ2-FJED, and DMH5-XBJD-KXCQ, respectively. Unfortunately, these avatars aren’t available for PSN users in Africa, and the reason for this exclusion is unknown. It’s also uncertain whether the Middle East is included in the Asia region; it varies from time to time.

It’s notable that Sony is offering this feature for Ghost of Yotei but not Death Stranding 2. However, they previously did something similar with Ghost of Tsushima and never with the original Death Stranding, so it’s not entirely unexpected. A key difference is that Death Stranding 2 is a second-party game – Sony doesn’t own the rights to it. Ghost of Yotei, on the other hand, is a first-party game developed by Sony’s own Sucker Punch Productions, meaning Sony owns the intellectual property. This ownership is probably the main reason for the difference in treatment.
Not much has happened with Ghost of Yotei since it came out. It received one update at the beginning of the month, but it likely won’t be updated again until 2026. The new Legends co-op mode is expected to launch next year.
