If you’ve been in Japan recently, you’ve probably noticed how popular the game Needy Streamer Overdose (released as Needy Streamer Overload outside of Japan) has become. The game centers around a character named OMGkawaiiAngel, who’s known for being quite troubled.
You can easily find collectibles and merchandise featuring the main character of the visual novel at most hobby shops, and there are even a few manga adaptations available now.
As a fan, I really get the feeling this visual novel on PS5 and PS4 is about to become huge. The team behind it – WSS Playground, along with the amazing animation folks at Yostar Pictures and Aniplex, which is part of Sony – seems perfectly positioned to make it happen, and I’m so excited to see what they do!

I’m so excited! The anime is finally coming in April 2026 in Japan! They’re even doing special preview screenings at Shinjuku and Umeda theaters before it airs, which is awesome. And honestly, I’m pretty sure Crunchyroll will release it worldwide too, so we’ll all be able to watch it!
Despite its charmingly retro, early-computer look, this game is a surprisingly deep experience. It lets you step into the everyday life of a teenager struggling with mental health, and dealing with a very demanding personality – without giving away the plot, that’s all it’s about.
Here’s the anime’s summary, from its official website:
NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE is an adventure game where you experience 30 days in the life of a girl desperate for approval as she tries to become a popular streamer, with help from someone named ‘P’. Released on Steam in January 2022, the game quickly became a hit, downloaded over three million times. Its music has also been incredibly popular, racking up over 400 million streams and establishing the game as a standout indie title that captures the essence of internet culture.
If you haven’t experienced this game yet, it’s fantastic. We’re a little unsure how the anime adaptation will handle the story, but we’re still looking forward to seeing it when it comes out next year.
