Sony has long been a major player in the television industry, and Breaking Bad was definitely one of their most significant achievements.
Back in 2017, they announced they were working on a PSVR game based on the show, teaming up with its creator, Vince Gilligan.
Recent findings from MP1st show that the internal studio FireSprite was initially tasked with developing a game that was eventually cancelled.
The website discovered the planned experience would have let visitors explore sets from the show, like Walter White’s backyard.
I remember Gilligan talking about this project back in 2022, and he was really honest about how tough game development is. Sadly, he said it just never quite worked out and they weren’t able to finish it, which is a bummer.
This is just the latest in a series of cancellations at the Liverpool studio, which had previously been developing a new Twisted Metal game.
Sony bought the Liverpool-based studio in 2021, but so far, they’ve only published one game for the new PSVR2: Horizon Call of the Mountain.
There’s talk that the team behind Until Dawn is developing a new game, currently known as Project Heartbreak, but no official footage has been released yet.
Now that Sony is focusing more on games made by its own studios, it’s uncertain whether this game will ever be released.
