Liam Neeson has been a popular actor for years, but his career really shifted with the 2008 film *Taken*. That’s when he became known for playing tough action heroes – especially after delivering the iconic line, “I will find you and I will kill you.” He’s made many action movies since then, and now one of his best is available to stream on Prime Video.
The thriller *A Walk Among the Tombstones*, starring Liam Neeson, came out in 2014 and is still considered one of his strongest films in the neo-noir genre. Good news for fans: it’s now available to stream on Prime Video as of October 1st.
Compared to most of Liam Neeson’s action films, which often feel similar to each other, *A Walk Among the Tombstones* stands out as something different. It’s a significantly grimmer movie than his fans might anticipate, and the violence is more unsettling than usual.
A Walk Among the Tombstones Is Worth the Watch
Liam Neeson’s action films aren’t typically suitable for families, and *A Walk Among the Tombstones* is particularly geared towards adults. The movie centers on a former police officer, Neeson, who was fired after accidentally killing an innocent person during an off-duty incident. He’s now working as a private investigator, taking on cases that involve finding people and resolving complicated issues – essentially acting as a problem solver. He’s hired by a grieving husband who wants him to locate and kill the men responsible for his wife’s murder.
When Neeson’s character takes the job, he’s pulled into the city’s criminal world and discovers a frightening conspiracy much bigger than he anticipated. The trailer gives you a taste of the unsettling dangers hidden within the story.
As a big fan of neo-noir, I really enjoyed *A Walk Among the Tombstones*. Beyond the dark and suspenseful story, it’s just a beautifully shot film with a seriously great cast. Liam Neeson is fantastic, of course, and it was cool to see Dan Stevens – who I knew from *Downton Abbey*, though he’d also done *The Guest* that year – play a really interesting, and secretly complex, grieving husband. And it’s fun to watch now knowing David Harbour was in it just before *Stranger Things* made him a household name!
If you enjoy gritty, violent action thrillers, A Walk Among the Tombstones on Prime Video is worth watching. It starts subtly, but quickly becomes a powerful and engaging film that you won’t want to skip.
