
I generally think Fortnite’s collaborations make sense, and that’s become even more true since they started partnering with anime series. It felt natural from the very beginning, but the anime crossovers really solidified that feeling.
This Fortnite update feels special. They’re adding content from South Park, a show I grew up with – one my parents definitely wouldn’t have let me watch if they’d known what it was actually about back in the early 2000s!
I originally found out about South Park by renting it from Blockbuster, and now a whole new group of people might first experience it through Fortnite. Here’s a breakdown of what this partnership adds to the game.
What the South Park collaboration brings to Fortnite
A lot is happening with this new release! The update launches tomorrow, January 9th, 2026, and it’s officially called South Park: Born in Chaos.
Taking inspiration from the game The Stick of Truth, this event adds new items, most notably The Stick of Truth itself. This unique item can be used once to directly control the path of the Storm – something new to Fortnite.
As an analyst, I’m seeing some interesting additions to the game. Players will now have access to Cheesy Poofs, which are a new consumable item used to restore health. Alongside that, there’s Kenny’s Respawn Token – a single-use item that instantly brings a player back into the game after they’ve been eliminated. It’s a one-time save, so players will need to use it strategically.
The game’s map has been updated with a new area called Cartmanland, referencing a popular storyline from the show’s fifth season. While I was hoping for the inclusion of Casa Bonita, Cartmanland is a great addition nonetheless.

You can now customize Cartman, Kenny, Stan, Kyle, and Butters with new skins. However, Fortnite is focusing on mech suits again, which some players might find a bit repetitive. I was hoping they’d include the cool anime-style designs from the ‘Good Times with Weapons’ episode, along with special weapons and abilities to match.
The biggest new feature is a five-player mode, letting you team up with squads of five instead of the typical four. Plus, there’s a free “Born in Chaos Pass” with 13 cosmetic items themed around South Park.
