Recently, the show South Park hasn’t shied away from tackling current events and making fun of prominent figures. The latest episodes, including a Halloween special, joked about the White House renovations and the Trump administration. Now, reports suggest that creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker might be making changes to the South Park studio itself, potentially indicating a more serious approach to things behind the scenes.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that South Park Studios has added security at its office in Marina del Rey. While Matt Stone and Trey Parker haven’t commented on the change, it’s likely due to the show’s often controversial content. This year, South Park didn’t just satirize Donald Trump and his administration; it also featured a critical episode about Charlie Kirk, which has since been removed from Comedy Central but remains available on Paramount+. With three extra episodes planned for the upcoming twenty-eighth season, it’s reasonable to expect more controversy from South Park in 2025.
South Park’s Wild Future
For the past two seasons of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone haven’t been able to stick to their usual weekly release schedule. Episodes have come out every other week, or sometimes even later, on Comedy Central and Paramount+. It’s become well-known that Parker and Stone often work on episodes right up until the last minute, sometimes even submitting them to Paramount+ on the same day they’re released.
Earlier this year, Trey Stone explained why a previous episode was delayed, admitting they simply ran out of time. He said pushing deadlines sometimes leads to mistakes, and that’s what happens when you wait until the last minute. The current plan is to release the final three episodes of the current season on November 12th, November 26th, and December 10th, with the last episodes scheduled to air in 2025. While there haven’t been any announcements about delays, given the show’s history, it’s still a possibility.
Good news for fans of South Park: the show will continue for years to come! Parker and Stone recently signed a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount, ensuring the future of the animated series. With strong support from Paramount/Skydance CEO David Ellison, it looks like Kyle, Kenny, Stan, and Cartman won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
