After twenty-eight seasons, South Park has concluded its latest run, bringing several of its most outlandish storylines to a close. Though the show may not return until 2025, season twenty-eight ended on a high note, resolving the Satan baby plot, revisiting the beloved Woodland Critters after a long absence, and offering a moment of growth for the character of Jesus. Most notably, fans finally witnessed Stan Marsh’s long-awaited Christmas wish come true.
Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the season twenty-eight finale of South Park. The season concluded with a surprising turn: the child of Satan and former President Trump did not survive. Meanwhile, Stan Marsh finally experienced something he’d long hoped for. Throughout the finale, Stan searches for a miracle, but Jesus is preoccupied with his own comedic subplot. Ultimately, Stan receives his miracle in a moment that fans have been eagerly anticipating.
After failing to perform a miracle in the season finale, Jesus helps Stan out by giving him a house in South Park, conveniently located next to Kyle’s. Stan’s family had been struggling since Tegridy Farms closed, forced to live in his grandfather’s retirement home, which was causing a lot of problems. Now that they have a proper home, things can hopefully get back to normal on the show—as normal as things ever are in South Park.
Stan Marsh’s Bright Future
Good news for South Park fans! After season twenty-eight finished, it was announced that creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are making ten new episodes every year for the next five years. This means we can expect season thirty—and possibly season thirty-one, depending on how they release the episodes—in 2026. Since South Park is often made very close to its air date, don’t anticipate any previews or trailers before the end of this year.
The season finale felt like a way of making amends to fans after the show took some unexpected turns in recent seasons. Characters like Towlie and Stan directly acknowledged how strange things had become, and the Marsh family’s return home signaled the end of a chapter – a welcome change for many viewers.
