South Park Season 29 Confirms Release Date & Schedule With First Look

I recently saw that South Park is coming back! Comedy Central announced the release date and schedule for Season 29, and even shared a quick teaser. It’s been quite a year for the show โ€“ it returned to television last year after some changes behind the scenes. There was a lot of negotiation between Paramount and the creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but they ultimately signed a new deal to make five more years of episodes. It’s a huge deal โ€“ reportedly worth $300 million a year!

Last year, South Park came back with ten new episodes, which were split between its 27th and 28th seasons. Now, the animated series will return to Comedy Central on September 16th with Season 29. Along with the premiere date announcement, Comedy Central revealed the release dates for five more episodes. You can watch a preview of South Park Season 29 below.

South Park Season 29 Episode Release Schedule Confirmed

The 29th season of South Park will begin airing on Comedy Central on Wednesday, September 16th at 10 PM Eastern and Pacific time. New episodes will then be available to stream on Paramount+ the following day for viewers in the US, Canada, and Australia. Other countries will get episodes on a different schedule. After the premiere, new episodes will air on Wednesdays throughout the season, with release dates on September 30th, October 14th, October 28th, November 11th, and November 25th.

Currently, it looks like South Park Season 29 will start with six episodes when it returns in 2026. However, it’s unclear if that will be the entire season. Because of the show’s deal with Paramount, it needs to release ten episodes each year, so we can probably expect news about the remaining four episodes once production begins. It’s understandable that the full schedule hasn’t been announced yet.

How Many Episodes Will South Park Season 29 Have?

When South Park came back last year, production problems caused some changes to its usual schedule. Parker and Stone said they struggled to keep up after the first episode, which led to delays of a few weeks between each new installment throughout the season. Currently, new episodes air every other week, but this could shift once Season 29 is fully underway, as is typical for South Park.

If the first six episodes aren’t released on time, the release of the final four episodes could be delayed even further. That’s probably why they haven’t announced a date for the rest of the season yet โ€“ they want to avoid the delays that happened last year. Thankfully, Season 29 of South Park is off to a better start than last year, and we’ll see how the season unfolds this fall.
