Trading in the stock continued to be very active on its second day. According to Yahoo Finance, the stock opened at $171.81 and peaked at around $188.80, with over 196 million shares traded. This continued the upward trend that started right after the company first became available to the public.

Wall Street valuation concerns have not slowed demand

Leading up to its public listing, many financial experts wondered if SpaceX’s high valuation was reasonable, considering its finances. For example, Morningstar calculated a fair share price of $63, much lower than the actual offering price of $135. However, SpaceX’s share price has since risen dramatically, now trading at almost three times Morningstar’s initial estimate – around $188 per share.

Investor interest surged following SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO). The company raised approximately $75 billion by selling over 555 million shares at $135 each – the largest IPO in history. The stock price began at $150 on its first day of trading, peaked at $176.52, and ultimately closed more than 19% higher than its initial offering price.

Going into this offering, there was some worry about whether we’d see enough investor interest given the size of the deal. However, what actually happened surprised us – demand significantly outstripped supply. In fact, orders were so strong that SpaceX quickly jumped past a $2 trillion valuation after becoming publicly traded.

Last year, the company brought in $18.7 billion in revenue but still experienced a loss of $8.7 billion from January 2025 to March 31, 2026. Analysts, on average, predict the stock will reach around $161.25 within a year – which is lower than its current price.

Institutional investors continue backing the stock

Although some experts are hesitant, many well-known investors believe SpaceX is worth its high valuation. Kevin O’Leary points out that investors are focusing on what the company *could* achieve in the future, not just how much money it’s making now.

The price increase has also attracted interest from larger investors. Earlier this month, on June 12th, Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest bought approximately $444 million worth of SpaceX shares – 3,291,184 shares in total – across its investment funds. This was one of ARK Invest’s biggest investments since the company started investing in publicly traded companies.

SpaceX’s recent listing on the stock market is attracting interest from a wider range of investors, largely due to the company’s significant Bitcoin holdings. Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman at Strategy, noted that with this IPO, a quarter of the eight major companies known as the ‘Mag 8’ now include Bitcoin as part of their assets. Data from Bitcoin Treasuries, as reported by crypto.news, indicates SpaceX currently holds 18,712 Bitcoin.
