Everyone is eagerly awaiting the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it’s been a major source of online discussion. As the release date approaches, rumors are flying around about everything from Sadie Sink’s character to possible changes Sony made to the trailer. Because the film is part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are also trying to figure out how Brand New Day connects to other Marvel movies and where it fits in the overall story timeline. A recent online listing has only added to the confusion.
The description for the new movie Brand New Day on Regal Cinema’s website says that after the events of Doomsday, Peter Parker attempts to balance college life with leaving his Spider-Man identity behind. However, when a new danger threatens his loved ones, he’s forced to become Spider-Man again, and he teams up with a surprising partner to protect them. The phrase “after Doomsday” has particularly surprised fans, and you can find some of their reactions below.
This summary is completely confusing. It seems like Peter Parker is abandoning his own identity and fully becoming Spider-Man, which doesn’t make sense considering Spider-Man is all he has left. The text also raises questions about a broken promise and forgotten friendships, but provides no context for either.

It made sense two years ago when Doomsday was first scheduled to come out in May. However, Disney decided to delay it and release it on the same date as Dune 3. So, logically, the timing still works. Unless, of course, BND has made changes to the script or story that require further adjustments…

Pretty sure they meant to put No Way Home.

there is 0 chance in hell this is true because after doomsday basically means after secret wars

This synopsis goes COMPLETELY against everything we know about the movie lmfao
— Goldees (@GoldenAndYellow) April 10, 2026
That wouldn’t make storyline sense since it comes out 5 months before it

If what’s happening in “Doomsday” is also occurring during BND at the same time, that would explain a lot. Following that, we’d likely see “Secret Wars,” and then a complete “Reboot/Reset.”

Regal’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Listing Explained
Several people have pointed out that originally, Brand New Day was planned to be released after Avengers: Doomsday. Doomsday was initially scheduled for release this May to start the summer movie season, but Disney moved it to December 2026 to capitalize on the holiday box office and give the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, more time for finishing touches. Because of this earlier plan, Marvel may have intended Brand New Day to take place after Doomsday to align with the release dates. The synopsis currently listed by Regal is probably an older version based on Marvel’s original schedule.
Don’t worry too much about the early details appearing online. It’s normal for movie theaters to put up temporary information before the official details are released. In this case, Regal Cinemas has placeholder details for the new movie, Brand New Day – they even list the runtime as just one minute! Plus, the first trailer shows a different story than what’s currently on Regal’s website. Peter Parker isn’t giving up being Spider-Man; he’s actually struggling to hold onto his personal life while dedicating himself to being a hero. Hopefully, Regal will update its website soon to clear up any confusion.
While Regal’s synopsis is false, it does raise the interesting question of how Brand New Day will ultimately relate to Avengers: Doomsday on the official MCU timeline. All we know for sure right now is that Brand New Day takes place four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, placing it in the year 2028. There have been rumors that the events of Brand New Day and Doomsday take place at the same time, though that’s yet to be confirmed. It would make sense for that to happen, however, as it would provide a clear in-universe explanation for why Tom Holland’s Peter Parker isn’t in the Avengers movie (in the real world, Holland was busy filming The Odyssey and Brand New Day last year). It’s unlikely Marvel will be willing to reveal too much about Doomsday in Brand New Day in the interest of preserving spoilers and surprises for a film that’ll still be five months away.
While hints of a future event similar to Doomsday might appear in Brand New Day, it was probably challenging to strongly connect the two films. Both were in development at the same time, and large-scale productions are always complex and subject to change. It’s more crucial that each movie stands on its own as a good film. Therefore, it makes sense to let the creative teams work independently, without being overly concerned with what’s happening in the other film. They need to respect the established Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, but they can structure Brand New Day and Doomsday so the order doesn’t matter – whether Brand New Day happens before or after Avengers. Most likely, Brand New Day will focus primarily on Peter Parker’s individual story.
