‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Will Reportedly Omit Any Mention Of Peter Parker’s Greatest Villain

While the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises a strong group of villains, it seems Peter Parker won’t be battling his most famous enemy in this fourth film. The movie takes place several years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought together villains from various Spider-Man universes. Now, Spider-Man is facing a new set of mysterious challenges in Brand New Day.

Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin, won’t be in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, and neither will his company, Oscorp. He’s a famous enemy of both Spider-Man and Peter Parker, and has appeared in the Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

According to Marvel insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, the upcoming story arc Spider-Man: Brand New Day doesn’t include any references to Norman Osborn or his company, Oscorp. While Willem Dafoe played Osborn in Spider-Man: No Way Home, leading fans to believe a new version of the character might appear in the MCU, that doesn’t seem to be happening in Brand New Day.

This news also puts an end to rumors about Keith David’s part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Some fans guessed he might be playing Norman Osborn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while others believed he’d be a different Marvel villain altogether.

Norman Osborn is a wealthy and powerful figure in Marvel Comics. He’s a successful businessman, scientist, and the CEO of Oscorp, a massive technology company. While he admires Peter Parker’s intelligence, this creates tension with his own son, Harry, who is usually Peter’s close friend. Obsessed with gaining more power, Norman secretly becomes the villain known as the Green Goblin, and Spider-Man’s greatest enemy.

Even though the Osborn family has been important to Spider-Man’s story in previous movie versions—including the films with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man—the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t mentioned them at all, even after releasing four Spider-Man movies.

The upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and is working on Wonder Man, is directing the film, which is scheduled to come out on July 31, 2026.

When Will the Osborns Enter the MCU?

Most Spider-Man stories have focused on the history of the Osborn family, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has avoided that storyline, choosing instead to develop a mentor relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark. Although Robert Downey Jr. is now playing Doctor Doom in the MCU, potentially creating a similar mentor-turned-villain dynamic, fans are still eager to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man interact with the Osborn family.

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I’m really excited about Spider-Man: Brand New Day! It feels like a fresh start, jumping ahead a few years after the last film. We finally get to see Peter Parker as a college student, which is when he usually connects with Harry Osborn and gets pulled into the whole Osborn family drama – I’ve been waiting for that!

Now that Tony Stark is temporarily gone and Peter Parker is on his own after Doctor Strange erased everyone’s memory of him, it would make sense to introduce some new characters for him to connect with, and the Osborn family would be a good fit. However, Marvel Studios doesn’t seem ready to bring Norman Osborn into the story yet, likely because Spider-Man already has his hands full with so many villains in this movie.

Tom Holland is likely to continue playing Spider-Man for a while, which means the Marvel Cinematic Universe might eventually introduce Norman Osborn, a key character from the Spider-Man stories.
