Spider-Man’s 10 Best Team-Ups in Marvel Comics

Spider-Man began as a teenage character in Marvel Comics, figuring out his place in the world. He initially tried to join the Fantastic Four, but left when he found out they didn’t offer payment. Later, in 1992, Marvel launched a team-up comic series with Spider-Man as the central figure, partnering with a different hero in each issue. Throughout the years, Spider-Man has continued to collaborate with other heroes, both in team-up books and his own comics, and some of these partnerships have become strongly associated with the character.

This list highlights the 10 greatest team-ups featuring Spider-Man, from his beginnings in Marvel Team-Up comics to his most famous partnerships in his own series.

10) Rocket Raccoon

Spider-Man and Rocket Raccoon have worked together several times, and even Miles Morales has joined forces with Rocket. They make a great team – Spider-Man is known for his witty remarks, and Rocket constantly cracks jokes during fights. Recently, in the current Amazing Spider-Man comic series, Spider-Man saved Rocket from being held captive, and the two of them went on space adventures with a few alien allies. It’s always fun to watch them try to top each other with clever lines.

9) Doctor Strange

Spider-Man and Doctor Strange have a unique partnership. Strange understands Peter Parker’s history and struggles better than most. This became especially clear when Peter took something from Strange and traveled to the Spider-Totem. This event revealed Strange the deal Peter made with Mephisto and the reasons behind it, leading Strange to become very protective of Spider-Man.

8) Venom

Spider-Man and Venom share a permanent connection, whether Spider-Man wants to or not. This is because the Venom symbiote first bonded with Spider-Man on Earth (though some say it was Deadpool), and a link to Peter Parker remains. Despite Spider-Man’s dislike of the symbiote, their rare partnerships are compelling because of the tension—Spider-Man loathes every moment. Now that Venom has bonded with Mary Jane, it will be fascinating to see how Peter reacts when he discovers what’s happened.

7) Black Cat

Many fans think Mary Jane Watson is destined to be Spider-Man’s true love, and that’s certainly possible. But despite their strong connection, Spider-Man’s most compelling relationship has always been with Black Cat. He inspires her to be a better person, and she fully accepts him for who he is. They’re a fantastic couple, and even more effective when fighting crime together. Black Cat is the one person Spider-Man can always rely on, even when he needs saving from his own mistakes.

6) Daredevil

Spider-Man and Daredevil share a unique bond. Initially, Daredevil guided Spider-Man in using his powers responsibly, but their roles have shifted over time. There have been periods where Daredevil struggled with his own morality, and Spider-Man stepped in to help him stay on the right path. Regardless of who needs help, their team-ups are always exciting, and both remain consistently dedicated to doing what’s right, making them two of Marvel’s most reliable heroes.

5) Ms. Marvel

Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel recently teamed up in a story arc that was both touching and sad. The Marvel Team-Up comic series was revived in 2019, starting with three issues featuring Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel, followed by three issues with Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel. The first three issues involved a unique twist: Peter Parker and Kamala Khan kept swapping bodies. Though they first met in Amazing Spider-Man #7 five years prior, Kamala also played a significant role in the 2022 Spider-Man storyline Dark Web.

4) Deadpool

Deadpool’s partnership with heroes like Spider-Man and Rocket Raccoon is known for constant joking and playful insults. However, Deadpool takes it to another level – even pushing Spider-Man’s patience with his relentless banter. Their dynamic proved so popular that it led to a 50-issue comic book series from 2016 to 2019, perfectly blending comedy and action. If you thought Spider-Man was talkative, this series showed he could get a taste of his own medicine!

3) Human Torch

Spider-Man’s first attempt at joining a team was with the Fantastic Four, starting in Amazing Spider-Man #1. He left when he found out the job was unpaid, but quickly became close friends with the Human Torch. This connection stemmed from both Peter Parker and Johnny Storm being teenagers who were unexpectedly thrust into heroic roles. Their friendship is playful, filled with constant pranks, but they always support each other when it truly matters.

2) Miles Morales

Peter Parker and Miles Morales have a special relationship that goes beyond simply being teammates. Peter has taken Miles under his wing, guiding him after Miles arrived on Earth-616 following the events of Secret Wars, which concluded the Ultimate Universe. They actually crossed paths earlier when Peter briefly visited Miles’ world through a dimensional portal created by Mysterio. Since then, Peter has shared his life experience and consistently supported Miles, fighting alongside him and offering guidance whenever needed. Together, Spider-Man and Miles Morales make an ideal team.

1) Wolverine

It’s surprising to some, but Spider-Man’s greatest partner is actually Wolverine. Despite being complete opposites – Wolverine is a brooding, often violent hero who isn’t afraid to kill, while Spider-Man is guided by a strong moral code and always tries to save everyone – they work incredibly well together. They even teamed up for a time-travel adventure, briefly establishing lives in the past before being brought back to the present. This experience helped them truly understand each other, solidifying their bond. No other pairing has quite the same dynamic as Spider-Man and Wolverine.
