A recent leak suggests that Square Enix, one of the world’s leading video game publishers known for franchises like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts, is preparing a new installment in a highly popular series. This franchise has become increasingly beloved over the last ten years, and a new game appears to be in development.
A listing for a new Life is Strange game, titled Life is Strange: Reunion, recently appeared on the PEGI ratings website. Though Square Enix hasn’t officially announced it, the game reportedly follows Max Caulfield as she attempts to save a university from a devastating fire while reconnecting with her friend Chloe Price. While a release date wasn’t revealed, the listing (which has since been removed) suggests the game is planned for PS5.
According to a synopsis leaked on the PEGI website, Chloe Price and Max Caulfield share a connection to manipulating time, and Max deeply regrets losing Chloe. The story, titled Reunion, finds Chloe attending Caledon University, struggling with disturbing dreams and confusing memories, and needing Max’s assistance. However, Max is facing her own emergency: a devastating fire will engulf the campus within three days.
The game Life is Strange first came out in 2015 and quickly became a major success in the story-driven adventure game genre. The newest game, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, released in 2024 and brought back the series’ main character, Max. The ending of Double Exposure hinted at another game focusing on Max, and it now appears that game is Reunion.
Square Enix hasn’t officially commented on the leak of Life is Strange: Reunion. However, if the game is legitimate, we likely won’t have to wait long for an official announcement – probably within the next few days or weeks.
