A couple of weeks following the debut of season 1, Netflix officially announced a second installment of the series. Brandon Riegg, Netflix Vice President for non-fiction series, commented on the renewal: “We didn’t stop the production of Squid Game: The Challenge due to any concerns in our decision to proceed with season 2; instead, it’s the most daring unscripted show we’ve ever introduced at Netflix.

We can hardly contain our enthusiasm as we proceed with the continuation of the Squid Game franchise, collaborating with our Korean team, along with Studio Lambert and The Garden producers, to create an extraordinary competition series.

Similar to the concluded original drama series, 456 participants engage in a variety of childhood games, and if they lose, they get removed from the contest.

As competitors exit the competition one after another, it’s ultimately just one lucky participant who will stand victorious and walk away with an astonishing $4.56 million prize.

Player 287, more commonly recognized as Mai, emerged victorious in the first season at an impressive age of 55. After retiring, Mai opted for a tranquil lifestyle, devoting her days to her cherished husband, their beloved pets (the two dogs), and her adoring granddaughter.

After two and a half weeks of non-stop activity and rollercoaster emotions, it was comforting to return to everyday life without the constant fear of being eliminated, she shared with Tudum.

However, it was actually me who entered the competition. Despite this, I remain the same person as before, Mai, but I have become stronger in the process.

And soon, a new winner will be the reigning champion!
