With twists, turns, and plenty of strategy, only five players remain in Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, all competing for the impressive $4.56 million prize. The popular Netflix reality show, inspired by the globally successful South Korean series, brought together 456 contestants – each with their own background and reasons for playing – to compete in both familiar and brand-new, unexpected challenges.

Recent episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 were full of backstabbing and difficult choices, leaving only five players still in the competition. These finalists survived against 451 other contestants, including an NFL cheerleader, a retired bomb disposal expert, and a SoulCycle instructor.

Vanessa – Player 017

Honestly, Vanessa – Player 017 – has been a total surprise to me. She really burned through a lot of potential allies, especially during the Mingle round, and I thought that was it for her. But she just kept going, playing this really smart, independent game. It totally worked, and now she’s one step closer to winning that incredible $4.56 million prize! It’s been amazing to watch.

Vanessa is a lobster fisher in Canada and the only woman doing that job in her local harbor. She understands perseverance, having learned to succeed even when people doubt her.

I noticed some of the other players were questioning whether they could really trust her – Dajah even said in Episode 8 that she might be playing both sides because she doesn’t have anyone else she’s close to. But honestly, Player 017 doesn’t seem bothered by it at all.

During that same episode, Vanessa shared that she’d faced tougher situations before, but still managed to make it into the Top 5 of Season 2 of Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge.

Perla – Player 072

Perla and her brother, Jeffrey, both competed in the game and were close to reaching the final round with 22 players left. Unfortunately, the game of Marbles put them head-to-head, and Jeffrey was eliminated.

During a game of Slides & Ladders, Perla’s teammate, Zoe, was eliminated quickly, leaving Perla to compete on her own. Despite this, Perla persevered and made it to the final round. Similarly, Player 072 demonstrated great determination, finishing in the Top 5 of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2.

Perla and another strong player, number 183, were fierce rivals throughout the Slides & Ladders game, and that competition could influence how they perform against all the other players in the final round.

During an interview in Episode 7, Perla explained she competed on Season 2 to support her family and to prove she could overcome a difficult childhood. She believes winning Squid Game: The Challenge would silence her critics, and she thinks being genuine is her biggest strength and could help her win.

Steven – Player 183

Steven, player number 183, is a strong contender on Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2. He’s particularly dangerous because he’s skilled at manipulating others and consistently outplays them in the games. Before the show, Steven was already a successful poker player who had won millions, giving him a clear advantage.

According to his Instagram, Steven placed second in the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event, winning $6.5 million – more than the $4.56 million prize for Squid Game: The Challenge. Although some might question whether someone already wealthy should win, Steven has stated he’d use the money to help his family and donate to the Boys & Girls Club in Scottsdale.

While being seen as a threat might hurt Player 183’s chances, his ability to understand and influence others, combined with his strategic thinking, could actually help him win.

Dajah – Player 302

Dajah, also known as Player 302, was a determined and unwavering competitor throughout Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge. She consistently faced every challenge head-on and always played with respect for both the game and her opponents. This focused approach and refusal to give up helped her reach the Top 5.

Dajah approaches situations with seriousness in Season 2 due to her background in law enforcement – she worked as a detective for four years – and specific training she received. Her experience, particularly as Player 302, proved valuable in the Circle of Trust, allowing her to assess others’ honesty by reading their body language.

In Episode 8, Dajah shows she’s willing to play strategically and even make others uncomfortable if it means winning. This approach could be a real advantage in the final round, where everyone is competing individually.

Trinity – Player 398

Trinity, known as Player 398, wasn’t noticeable at the beginning of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, but he gradually became more prominent and made it to the Top 5. He intentionally flew under the radar, which worked to his benefit when players had to choose partners – nobody selected him for the Slides and Ladders game, automatically sending him to the next round, the Circle of Trust.

I work in retail, which means I’m constantly interacting with people. Honestly, it’s been amazing getting to know them, and it’s also made watching the competition so much harder. Hearing everyone’s stories and then seeing them eliminated? It’s really heartbreaking, and it’s made me realize how much these competitions impact real people.

During an interview on Episode 8, Trinity shared that he understands what it’s like to struggle financially, and that’s a major reason he’s determined to win the grand prize on Season 2. If he wins, Player 398 hopes to make a positive impact on the world, working to reduce corruption and make things better.
