Stalker 2 Announced for PS5 With Trailer Showing Characters Playing the Game in the Game

2025 sees the release of Stalker 2 on PlayStation 5, approximately one year following its debut on PC and Xbox Series X and S.

GSC Game World’s open-world horror shooter, funded by Xbox Game Studios, is now available on PlayStation 5. It fully utilizes the unique features of the DualSense controller, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, for an immersive gaming experience. Additionally, improvements specifically for the PS5 Pro are being worked on by the developers.

In November 2024, Stalker 2 was released to widespread acclaim on Steam and sold over 1 million copies. This is an incredible achievement for the Ukrainian studio, especially given the challenging circumstances that arose following Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country in 2022. It’s truly remarkable how they managed to find success amidst such adversity.

The release of Stalker 2 encountered numerous reported glitches, with A-Life 2.0 being a significant one. A-Life was an essential aspect of the original Stalker game, managing artificial intelligence (AI) across the entire game world. Essentially, it’s a system designed to mimic life in the Zone, operating independently of the player’s actions or location. It plays a crucial role in making the AI appear realistic and contributing to the unique, unpredictable gameplay that Stalker is known for.

The innovative feature, A-Life 2.0, as described by GSC, promised an unprecedented level of realism and unpredictability within the game environment for Stalker 2. This aspect was touted as a game-changer that would outdo any expectations of emergent gameplay. For many enthusiasts, A-Life 2.0 was the primary attraction of Stalker 2. However, upon its release, players found that A-Life 2.0 seemed to malfunction, causing some to wonder if it was included in the game at all.

In an interview with iggn.ru in December, GSC explained what went wrong with Stalker 2’s A-Life 2.0, and vowed to fix the system. They’ve been working on doing that ever since, and the expectation is that the PS5 version will include all the latest updates and fixes the developer has released for the PC and Xbox versions.
