After years of having multiple shows in production, there are currently no new Star Trek television series being developed. This year, Paramount cancelled Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and the upcoming season will be its last. Additionally, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will conclude after a fifth season, expected next year. Although there’s talk of a potential spinoff called Star Trek: Year One following Strange New Worlds, it hasn’t been officially approved. As of now, there are no new Star Trek projects planned for television or film.
Even though there aren’t any new Star Trek TV shows or movies in the works, Trek Core reports exciting new books are on the way for longtime fans. These include The Peacemakers by Una McCormack and the first volume of a two-part series, Star Trek: The Original Voyages – A Visual History, by Kyle Newman and Jeff Bond.
Why These Star Trek Books Are Perfect For Old-School Fans

Okay, so I’m really excited about this new Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel called The Peacemakers by Una McCormack. It’s a fictional story that catches up with Jake Sisko five years after the Dominion War. He’s back on Earth, trying to write a book about everything that happened, but everyone – Starfleet and the Bajorans – wants a piece of his time. To make things even more complicated, he starts hearing some unsettling things about both Starfleet and his dad’s history, stuff that could really blow his life apart. He tries to escape it all with an archeological dig, but that’s when people start turning up dead. It’s coming out on November 17th, and I’ve already pre-ordered!
This large book is the first in a two-part series looking back at the entire history of Star Trek. Titled Star Trek: The Original Voyages — A Visual History, it’s a 416-page hardcover filled with hundreds of rare photos and celebrates everything related to the franchise—from the original TV show and movies to novels, comics, video games, and collectibles. It’s being released to coincide with Star Trek’s 60th anniversary and will be available for purchase on November 10th. The second book in the series is scheduled to be released in 2027.
Fans of classic Star Trek have even more to look forward to in 2026. A new Star Trek: Picard novel, To Defy Fate, by Dayton Ward, will be released on April 28th. It follows Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly Crusher as they’re unexpectedly visited by Wesley Crusher, who now has the ability to travel through space and time, and who warns them of an impending threat. Additionally, The Art of Star Trek: Lower Decks, a book showcasing the animation, will be available on May 5th.
You can now preorder Star Trek Archives: 100 Artifacts and Stories from the Final Frontier, which will be released on August 18th. The book explores 100 iconic items and tales from the Star Trek universe. And on September 1st, a new behind-the-scenes look at the making of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home will be available.
