Star Wars and The End of the F***ing World star tipped to join sequel for modern horror classic

Naomi Ackie is reportedly very close to being cast in the sequel to the horror movie It Follows.

It’s been eleven years since the release of the horror film It Follows, and fans have been waiting for news about its sequel, They Follow, ever since.

David Robert Mitchell is returning to direct the next film, and Maika Monroe will reprise her role as Jay Height, the survivor from the first movie.

Naomi Ackie, a British actress, is reportedly close to being cast to star in a film with Monroe, according to Deadline.

Naomi Ackie is well-known for her performances in projects like The End of the Fing World, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Mickey 17.

Although Neon, the film’s production company, hasn’t officially commented yet, Ackie recently collaborated with them on the popular comedy, I Love Boosters.

As a fan, I was so happy to finally get this update! It’s been a while since the sequel was announced, and we haven’t had much to get excited about until now.

So, I just heard about the sequel to ‘They Follow,’ and it’s going to be really interesting! It jumps ahead a decade from the first movie, where this college guy, Jay Height, had a one-night stand and then found himself haunted by something… well, supernatural. I’m curious to see what’s happened to him after all this time.

When the creature begins attacking people near her, Jay figures out the only way to stop it is to give it to someone else by becoming intimate with them.

Despite being made with a modest $1 million budget, It Follows was a breakout horror success when it premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, ultimately earning $21.9 million worldwide.

The team announced plans for a sequel in 2023, but since then updates have been scarce.

Following the success of several surprisingly popular and inexpensive horror films in 2026, this update has been released. These movies have become major hits in Hollywood, breaking box office records.

As a film buff, I’m honestly blown away by “Obsession.” Made for just $750,000 by Curry Barker, it’s already raked in an incredible $229 million worldwide in only four weeks! That makes it the most profitable film Focus Features has ever released, which is pretty amazing considering the budget. It just goes to show you don’t always need a massive budget to create a huge hit!

Kane Parsons’ film, Backrooms, cost $10 million to make and came out in late May. It has since earned over $216 million, making it A24’s biggest box office hit ever.
