Marvel Comics is recognizing the success of the Star Wars series Andor as part of the 10-year celebration of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rogue One was a particularly important Star Wars film for Disney, as it didn’t just revisit familiar themes but expanded on George Lucas’s original ideas by highlighting the stories of ordinary heroes. It’s fitting that Tony Gilroy’s Andor is now widely considered the best Star Wars TV show, because it continues to explore those same ideas.
To mark the tenth anniversary of Rogue One, Marvel Comics is releasing a series of short comics spotlighting characters from the film. The standout issue is Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1 (available May 6th), written by Benjamin Percy with art by Luke Ross. This comic bridges the gap between Season 2 of Andor and the start of Rogue One, following Cassian as he undertakes a dangerous spy mission in Kafrene, evading both Imperial troopers and bounty hunters against a ticking clock. Given that Marvel’s Star Wars comics haven’t always aligned well with established storylines—including one instance where they awkwardly altered the events of The Force Awakens—this new series carries a bit of risk.

Jyn Erso’s Story Continues In Another Star Wars Prequel Comic

A new comic series further explores the story of Jyn Erso, focusing on her life right before the events of Rogue One. This fits with how her background has already been expanded upon in novels like Beth Revis’ Rebel Rising, so there isn’t much unknown territory. The description for the first issue of Rogue One – Jyn Erso (written by Ethan Sacks with art by Ramon Rosanos, and coming out June 3rd) sounds very exciting.
Life on the dangerous Wobani mining planet is harsh for Jyn Erso, but it’s turned upside down when a desperate group asks a skilled hacker known as “Liana Hallik” to help them escape. Jyn must use her wits to bypass Imperial defenses – including security droids, turrets, and flamethrowers – and unlock the necessary codes, all while protecting a scared young prisoner. This risky attempt could finally help Jyn overcome painful memories of her past with Galen, Lyra, and Saw, but failure could mean she’s lost forever, before she can even join the Rebellion.
We’re About To See Saw Gerrera’s Most Shocking Act Of Rebellion

A new Star Wars comic, Saw Gerrera, written by Marc Bernardin and illustrated by Gabriel Guzman, will finally detail why Saw broke away from the Rebel Alliance, showing “the revolutionary act that went too far for the rebellion!” This is a notable direction, considering the Rogue One film portrayed Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera as a radical – and other stories like Greg Rucka’s Guardians of the Whills emphasized this even more. However, the Andor series presented him as a more understandable and sympathetic character. Here’s what the comic, which comes out in July, is about, according to the official description:
Saw Gerrera fought bravely in the Clone Wars and remained dedicated to freedom. He was willing to go to any lengths to achieve it, even leading a dangerous mission into the heart of Imperial space. The goal? To find information that could give the Rebel Alliance a crucial edge. But will obtaining this information come at too great a cost?
It’s somewhat surprising Marvel hasn’t delved into a slightly altered narrative. We still don’t know why Saw Gerrera and his group decided to make Jedha their headquarters. Star Wars Rebels established that Saw was tracking the development of the Death Star – a storyline Andor didn’t pursue, and which the rebels mostly overlooked. Lucasfilm might still plan to revisit this plot point in future stories.
Secrets of the Guardians of the Whills Revealed

I was so captivated by Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus in Rogue One – they really stood out! I’ve always been curious about their lives before the movie, but for a while, Lucasfilm seemed to be figuring out the history of the Force tradition they belonged to. Now, with Star Wars: The High Republic Phase Two really diving into that world, it feels like the perfect time to learn more about them. I’m really excited about the new comic, Rogue One – Guardians of the Whills #1 by Stephanie Phillips and Kieran McKeown, coming out in August – it looks like it’ll finally explore their story!
Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe sneak onto an Imperial-controlled kyber crystal mine, hoping to disrupt its operations. However, an unforeseen obstacle arises, making their mission much harder than anticipated. They’ll need unwavering faith and will be forced to make a difficult decision if they want to succeed.
There’s Even A Darth Vader One-Shot

A new one-shot comic book, written by Chris Condon with art by Luke Ross, will explore the popular cameo appearance of Darth Vader in the movie Rogue One. The comic, titled Rogue One – Darth Vader #1, will be released in September.
Negotiations between Director Orson Krennic and the leader of Harreld, Harqque, have stalled. Harqque won’t let the Empire mine the planet’s valuable kyber crystals, which are needed to power the Death Star’s main weapon. When the Emperor learns of this failure, he dispatches Darth Vader to obtain the kyber crystals from Harqque, using whatever methods are required.
