Star Wars Drops a Massive Clue to Ahsoka’s Fate (In the Last Place We Expected It)

Ahsoka Tano has come a long way since she first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. While some viewers didn’t like her at first, she’s now a beloved character who has developed significantly over many appearances. We’ve followed her from a Padawan fighting in the Clone Wars to an adult helping the Rebel Alliance, and even as a teacher to Sabine Wren. Although fans have seen a lot of Ahsoka’s story unfold, her ultimate fate has remained a mystery – until now, as Lucasfilm may have just revealed the answer in an unexpected way, leaving many to wonder if she survived the entire Skywalker Saga.

The Star Wars Kids YouTube channel recently shared a short animated video showing Rey’s journey in the sequel trilogy. Near the end, the video portrays her battle with Emperor Palpatine, explaining she gains strength and support from “the power of 1,000 generations of Jedi.” As this is said, the video flashes images of Jedi Masters like Luke, Leia, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Ahsoka. This suggests that Ahsoka died before the events of the sequel trilogy.

Will Star Wars Ever Officially Reveal Ahsoka’s Fate?

As a huge Star Wars fan, I remember when The Rise of Skywalker came out, everyone immediately started wondering if Ahsoka had died. You hear her voice with all the other Jedi helping Rey, which led most of us to believe she’d become one with the Force. But then Dave Filoni posted something on Instagram – it’s been taken down now – that hinted she might actually still be alive, and it’s been a debate ever since! A recent Star Wars Kids video seems to lean towards her having passed on, though. It’s worth remembering that by the time Rey was facing Palpatine, other powerful Jedi like Luke, Leia, Yoda, and Qui-Gon were already gone.

It would seem odd to include Ahsoka among ghosts if she were still alive. Many other Jedi are deceased and could have filled that role, like Obi-Wan Kenobi or Mace Windu, but the creators specifically chose Ahsoka. Therefore, her death during the time of the sequel trilogy wouldn’t be shocking. Born in 36 BBY, Ahsoka would be in her early 70s during The Rise of Skywalker, which takes place in 35 ABY. While Togruta can live up to 94 years, individuals vary, and Ahsoka could have naturally passed away in her late 60s or early 70s.

Ahsoka Tano faced constant danger throughout her life and could have died long before reaching old age. The shows set in the Star Wars universe (like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka) demonstrate that she actively fought against evil during the New Republic period, repeatedly putting herself at risk. Despite being a skilled warrior, she easily could have been killed in battle or made a heroic sacrifice. Fans are curious to learn her ultimate fate within the official Star Wars story. Fortunately, Lucasfilm continues to explore this era, with Season 2 of Ahsoka and The Mandalorian and Grogu releasing this year, and a movie planned by Dave Filoni to connect all the storylines.

Ahsoka Tano is now a major part of the Star Wars universe, so fans naturally expect her story to have a proper ending. With Dave Filoni now a leader at Lucasfilm, it seems likely that will happen. Even if his planned movie doesn’t move forward, rumors suggest it could become a shorter series designed to tie up loose ends, and Ahsoka would almost certainly be central to that. Eventually, we’ll probably find out what happens to her, giving her story a satisfying conclusion.
