I was so excited when I heard rumors of a Knights of the Old Republic remake trailer, but it turned out to be something even cooler! It’s a brand new game called Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, and it’s being directed by Casey Hudson – the guy who helped make the original Mass Effect trilogy and the first Knights of the Old Republic! It’s a single-player RPG set in the Old Republic era, and I can’t wait to learn more.
The game’s reveal was brief, featuring only a cinematic trailer. It showed a female lead character, two allies who will accompany her, and a mysterious new enemy. Players can expect to wield a lightsaber as they play.
Arcanaut Studios is leading the development of the new game, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It’s being described as a spiritual successor to the original Knights of the Old Republic. The team includes many experienced developers, and players will face impactful choices as they explore the galaxy, ultimately deciding to align with either the light or dark side.
We don’t have a release date or know which platforms Fate of the Old Republic will be on yet, but we’ll share more information as soon as it’s available.
