Fuse Games and Secret Mode haven’t announced a release date for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, but Steam might have revealed it accidentally.
A potential release date of October 6, 2026, briefly showed up as a pre-order option on the game’s Steam page, but was quickly removed. Gaming news source Wario64 spotted it on X (formerly Twitter) and shared a screenshot before it disappeared, and the image quickly spread online. This Steam update also included details about pre-order bonuses and a Deluxe Edition, but those were also taken down. Because of these details, many gaming websites believe the October 6th date is more than just a mistake.
Both Fuse Games and Secret Mode haven’t made any announcements. The game’s Steam page still only says it will be released in 2026. Until the developers confirm things officially, October 6th looks like a likely release date, but it’s not guaranteed.
Star Wars Galactic Racer Release Date: What the Steam Page Showed
News about the release date of Star Wars Galactic Racer wasn’t the only information revealed. Before the online listing was removed, it showed all the details about pre-orders and different editions of the game – information that hadn’t been publicly announced yet.
People who pre-order Star Wars Galactic Racer will receive a special paint job they can use on any vehicle in the game, plus a unique player banner. If you purchase the Deluxe Edition, you’ll also get three exclusive vehicles, a special Deluxe paint job, three extra arcade challenges, another player banner, and a digital art book. The Steelbook version seems to be only available with physical copies of the Deluxe Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S; the PC version is currently available digitally.
The listing included details about the complete build, which indicates it wasn’t just a temporary placeholder. It appeared finished and ready to go when it was posted.
Denuvo Appears to Have Been Removed

Besides the news about when the game will come out, PC gamers should also be aware of another important detail.
It looks like the game “Secret Mode” had Denuvo anti-tamper software removed from its Steam page on April 25th, before the game was even released. Denuvo was listed for a short time, but disappeared within hours. It’s unusual for publishers to remove Denuvo before a game launches, as they typically do so quietly after the initial sales period. This is good news for players who prefer not to buy games protected with Denuvo, as it eliminates that concern right away.
Star Wars Galactic Racer PC Requirements
Secret Mode revealed the PC requirements for the game on Steam’s FAQ page a few months ago, and surprisingly, they’re not as demanding as the impressive graphics in the trailers might lead you to believe.
To run the game, you’ll need at least an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400 (or a 10th-generation Intel Core i3) processor, combined with an Nvidia RTX 2060, AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, or Intel Arc graphics card (currently the Arc A580 is listed as the minimum, though the A380 has also been mentioned). You’ll also need 12GB of RAM and a 50GB SSD. These specifications are subject to change before the game officially launches.
To run the game well, they recommend at least an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700 processor, and an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc B580 graphics card. You’ll also need 16GB of RAM, and the game requires 50GB of storage space. This is similar to the requirements for Star Wars Squadrons, suggesting the developers are aiming for broad compatibility.
The game features top-of-the-line graphics technologies, including DLSS 4.5 – Nvidia’s advanced upscaling and frame generation – and realistic, ray-traced lighting that can be enhanced further with DLSS. Players using the Steam Deck can expect a smooth, high-quality experience at 30 frames per second, according to the game’s ‘Secret Mode’.
What the Star Wars Galactic Racer Game Actually Is
Fuse Games, a new UK-based studio formed in 2023 by veterans of the Need for Speed and Burnout franchises (from Criterion Games), is developing Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The studio’s CEO, Matt Webster, previously contributed to Star Wars: Battlefront while at Criterion. A team of around 150 people is working on the game, with Lucasfilm Games actively involved in the creative process from the beginning. This collaboration is part of a larger effort by Lucasfilm Games to partner with more studios, similar to the development of Star Wars Outlaws.
The game takes place after the fall of the Empire, during the time of the New Republic. You’re Shade, a racer with a personal vendetta against the Bool family, and you find yourself caught up in the Galactic League – a secret, illegal racing circuit in the dangerous Outer Rim. Darius Pax, the league’s organizer, recruits Shade to help defeat Kestar Bool, a powerful rival who is trying to take control and force Pax out of business.
This racing game lets up to 12 players compete online, and will eventually feature a ranking system for competitive players. While the game supports online play, it also offers optional in-game purchases. Players can choose from four vehicle types: landspeeders, speeder bikes, podracers, and a brand-new vehicle called the skimspeeder, never before seen in a Star Wars game. Fan-favorite characters Sebulba and Ben Quadinaros from Episode I are making a return. Podracing is also confirmed to be included, which is exciting for fans of the original Star Wars Episode I Racer. The game is designed for modern consoles – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC – and, unlike some other recent Star Wars titles, Fuse Games has stated there won’t be a season pass with additional paid content.
It is the first dedicated Star Wars racing game since Racer Revenge in 2002.
October 6 and What It Means for the Rest of 2026
If the game releases on October 6th as planned, it would fall into a relatively open period in the fall. As Kotaku noted, many publishers are avoiding releasing games right before the November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. This creates an opportunity for Galactic Racer, as there’s less competition, but it also suggests the period might be quiet for a reason.
PC Gamer wondered how the recent news affects Star Wars Zero Company, another big Star Wars game planned for 2026 that doesn’t have a specific release date. They also noted that Star Wars Eclipse is still likely several years away, making Galactic Racer one of the few Star Wars games currently expected to come out soon.
The leak indicates that everything was set for pre-orders and marketing – meaning Fuse Games and Secret Mode could announce things at any time. The only remaining question is whether the announcement will confirm an October 6th release date or change it.
The release date information for Star Wars Galactic Racer in this article comes from a Steam listing and some promotional content that appeared online for a short time on April 24th and 25th, 2026. This information was first noted by Wario64 and then reported on by several gaming websites, including PC Gamer, Kotaku, and Twisted Voxel. However, neither Fuse Games nor Secret Mode has officially announced a release date for the game.
