Finding a valuable collection of items hidden in an attic is something most people only dream about. These lucky discoveries are so unusual that they often become news stories, like the time three brothers found a copy of Action Comics #1 and sold it for over $9 million in 2025. While rare, it does happen, and a recent Reddit post suggests it may have happened again. A woman shared that her husband, a longtime Star Wars fan, found a truly remarkable collectible, likely inspiring other collectors to search their parents’ attics.
A user named Mayday______ shared a post about discovering a large collection of 1980s Kenner Star Wars figures in her mother-in-law’s attic. She’s been asked to sort and sell the figures, along with collections of Warhammer and Transformers toys. The toys are in remarkably good condition, and the user has previously shown a history of sorting and identifying Warhammer figures, which adds to the collection’s credibility. The collection includes some particularly valuable items, like two R2-D2 Pop-up Lightsabers (currently worth around $500 each) and a lot of accessories. The most valuable find is a Yak Face figure – one of the last 17 figures released, and worth approximately $700-800 if complete and in good condition.
Any fun in this box of 80s figures I’ve been given? Ones like the guy in the last pic seem cool. I really know nothing about them apart from they were my husband’s but he doesn’t remember them….

The Last 17 Are Star Wars Gold Dust

It looks like Mayday has found a remarkable collection, and early signs suggest concerns about artificially inflated interest might be unfounded. The Yak Face figure appears to be in excellent condition, and the white figures haven’t yellowed much despite being over 40 years old – that’s really impressive! As a result, people are offering the original poster $4500 for the collection. A Boba Fett figure still in its original packaging, with all its parts, would also be a valuable find.
The ‘Last 17’ refers to the final 17 Star Wars action figures Kenner released in 1985. This group included popular characters like Han Solo in carbonite, four Ewoks, a special R2-D2 with a pop-up lightsaber, and EV-9D9. It also featured two Luke Skywalker figures currently valued at around $1000 combined. Based on a recent listing, this collection seems to include most, if not all, of these figures. Someone is about to get a fantastic deal when these hit the market, and it might be worth checking your attics for any hidden treasures!
