As a movie critic, I must say that Sig Greebling, the Force-sensitive nerf herder voiced by Gaten Matarazzo (from Stranger Things), has embarked on an epic journey to restore order in the Star Wars galaxy – one brick at a time. Uncovering the Cornerstone of the Galaxy within a Jedi temple on Fennesa, Sig’s discovery unintentionally caused chaos across space and time.
Bobby Moynihan, as the wise Jedi Bobarian “Bob”, cautioned Sig and his brother Dev (Tony Revolori from Spider-Man) about the impending changes: “The building blocks of the galaxy are shifting, rearranging,” he warned. “Prepare for a new order, everything we once knew about this galaxy will be transformed.
The worlds we know are about to transform dramatically. It’s hard for us to fathom, but people will evolve in unexpected ways. In this new galaxy, Luke Skywalker competes as a podracer, Anakin Skywalker is now the white-robed Jedi known as Vader, and Darth Rey serves under the Sith Master Darth Jar Jar. Essentially, everything that has happened so far will be revamped into something fresh and unrecognizable.” – Jedi Bob’s prediction.
2024’s “Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy” concludes with Sig triumphing over his brother, Dev’s devastating Darth Devastator, to reacquire the Cornerstone. However, just as victory is within reach, Darth Rey and Darth Rose Tico hire mercenaries – a fusion of Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) and Grogu (The Child), known as the Landolorian and Grogu – to capture Sig either dead or alive.
The narrative unfolds in the game titled “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past,” where Sig and Dev, who possess unique abilities in Force Construction and Sith Disruption, join forces to rejuvenate a chaotic galaxy. Accompanied by Jedi Bob, Yesi Scala (portrayed by Marsai Martin), and Servo (Michael Cusack), they embark on an adventure that delves into the most obscure aspects of the LEGO Star Wars universe, unearthing artifacts from all the galaxies preceding it, as suggested by the plot summary.
In the trailer for the upcoming four-part special event, we are introduced to villain Solitus, played by Dan Stevens, who was once Jedi Bob’s master and aims to disrupt the galaxy with a rift capable of destroying reality. The trailer also gives us a sneak peek at smuggler Jaxxon Tumperakki, a rabbit-like character from Marvel’s 1977 Star Wars comic books, who is considered a “deep cut.” Additionally, we see a BrickHeadz version of Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Ashley Eckstein, who was Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Lastly, Pirate Queen Amidala, portrayed by Catherine Taber, makes an appearance as well.
Additionally joining the Star Wars universe are Cameron Monaghan playing Cal Kestis from the Star Wars Jedi video games, Andre Sogliuzzo known for his roles in Rogue One and Andor, Nika Futterman revisiting her Clone Wars era character Asajj Ventress, Brian George as the Cerean Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi, Alan Tudyk reprising his role as the villainous K-2SO from Rogue One, Jennifer Hale voicing Viper (previously seen in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Bad Batch), and James Arnold Taylor portraying Obi-Wan Kenobi (from Star Wars: The Clone Wars).
The voice actors returning for this production feature Matarazzo as Sig Greebling, Revolori as Dev Greebling, Moynihan as Jedi Bob, Martin as Yesi Scala, Cusack as Servo. Billy Dee Williams is back as both Lando and the Landolorian, Ahmed Best reprises his role as Darth Jar Jar, Anthony Daniels returns as C-3PO, Helen Sadler takes up Darth Rey, Sam Witwer portrays Maul once more, Phil LaMarr voices Darth Kit Fisto, Matthew Wood plays General Grievous, Jake Green assumes the role of Greedo, Shelby Young is Princess Leia, Piotr Michael voices Yoda again, Matt Sloan takes on Jedi Vader, Trevor Devall portrays Jedi Master Sheev, Dee Bradley Baker reprises his part as Darth Nubs, Naomi Ackie steps into the role of Jedi Jannah, Kevin Michael Richardson becomes Jedi Jabba the Hutt, Kelly Marie Tran returns as Darth Rose Tico, and Mark Hamill continues his portrayal of Luke Skywalker.
