During a recent interview with Variety, director Rian Johnson (known for 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi) discussed the departure of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Dave Filoni, a veteran Star Wars creator, and Lynwen Brennan will now lead the company. Johnson, a self-proclaimed Star Wars fan, expressed his hope that the franchise will start incorporating new perspectives and telling original stories.
I’m a huge fan of Kathy, and I’m really eager to see what she does next! As a Star Wars enthusiast myself, what excites me most is when the franchise welcomes new and innovative directors and storytellers. That’s what I’m hoping to see more of – fresh perspectives continuing to expand that universe.
Rian Johnson’s Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, sparked a lot of debate among fans – some loved its fresh take on the story, while others didn’t. Despite the mixed reactions, Johnson has said he enjoyed directing the movie and would welcome the chance to work on another Star Wars film in the future.
I absolutely loved the experience. It’s made me an even more dedicated Star Wars fan than before, and I’d be thrilled if I could do it again.
