Star Wars Says Goodbye to The High Republic Era, But What Comes Next? (Exclusive)

As a devoted fan, I’ve been immersed in the Star Wars narrative that started unfolding in 2021, known as The High Republic saga. This epic storytelling journey initially manifested through novels and comics, and later expanded to include the Disney+ series, “The Acolyte.” We’ve traversed Phase I, II, and III of The High Republic, exploring centuries before the Skywalker legacy took center stage in the galactic franchise.

However, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and that’s what’s happening with The High Republic. As we eagerly anticipate what Marvel and Lucasfilm have in store for us post-The High Republic, let’s savor the final chapter of this captivating story.

The exclusive first issue of Star Wars: The High Republic – The Finale, penned by Cavan Scott and Marika Cresta, offers an intriguing peek. This story unfolds in the skies above Coruscant, with a constellation of starships floating above the gleaming metropolis. Our guide through this narrative is Jedi Master Keeve Trennis, who commands the Stormwall Defense Fleet. Having recently emerged victorious from the Battle of Eriadu against the Nihil, Master Keeve and his team are returning home. Yet, instead of celebrating their triumph, they approach it with solemn reverence, as if mourning a loss.

Lourna, far from downcast, seems antagonistic towards Keeve Trennis. This hostility stems from Keeve encouraging Lourna to exceed herself. Lourna was the one who clinched the victory against an adversary exploiting their fears, but now Keeve harbors uncertainty about whether that move was wise. Normally, a Jedi would attempt to spare the Nihil, but that’s a concern for another day. For now, Keeve has been called to the Jedi Temple, and she will be accompanied by Sskeer.

Upon arriving at the Jedi Temple, Keeve is joyfully reconnected with Terec and Ceret, who share that their mission against the Nameless was successful in bringing tranquility to the galaxy. Yet, this victory came at a price; one they will bear for eternity. Despite remaining together, this burden will be a lifelong companion for Terec and Ceret.

Marvel has recently reintroduced its Star Wars comic books collection. Currently, they’re offering a continuous Star Wars storyline that unfolds post-Return of the Jedi, along with a series focusing on Doctor Aphra. At present, it remains unclear if they plan to release a series dedicated to tales untold outside the Skywalker Saga, much like The High Republic.

The Conclusion of the First Chapter! In the epic showdown between the Jedi and the Nihil, losses have been sustained and tranquility returns. Friends and comrades unite for a final toast, a choice is made, and destiny set. Notable characters from the hit multi-platform project join in. The path converges at Dalna.
