Auctions are excellent for finding missing pieces for your collections – whether you collect comics, toys, trading cards, or items from movies and animation. This week’s auctions feature a lot of exciting items, especially for fans of popular franchises like Star Wars, The Hobbit, One Piece, Spawn, Marvel, and DC.
Let’s look at a popular comic book character outside of Marvel and DC: Spawn, created by Todd McFarlane. While Spawn first gained fame in comics, a great animated series on HBO in 1999 really brought the dark and intense feel of the comics to life. Now, Heritage Auctions is offering a production cel from that series – specifically, a 12-field cel of Spawn moving through a shadowy alley. The auction includes the original animation drawing as well, and you can start bidding with just $1.

The Hobbit And One Piece Lead TV and Anime

Even though The Hobbit was recently made into a three-part movie series, many fans still love the classic Rankin/Bass animated TV movie from 1977. Collectors of Tolkien memorabilia will be excited to learn that a production cel featuring Gandalf from The Hobbit is up for auction. These key setup cels are very rare, and this auction includes the original storyboard sketches for that scene as well. The current high bid is $420, and the auction will close in 20 days.

Now for something from the world of anime: we’re auctioning off an original animation drawing of Luffy from One Piece, specifically from the episode The Chateau in Turmoil! Luffy, to the Rendezvous. This is a set of drawings used to create the scene where Luffy battles the Big Mom Pirates. It’s in excellent condition, and the current high bid is $875. The auction will close in 20 days.
Comic Fans Are In Luck With Star Wars and DC

Comic book fans have two exciting auctions coming up, one for each of two popular franchises. The first features a 1977 Marvel Comics issue of Star Wars #1 – a highly graded (NM+ 9.6) copy of the 35-cent variant. What makes this copy especially valuable is that it’s signed by both Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, which helps explain the current bid of $37,000. The auction will close in 9 days.

This week’s featured comic is a must-have for DC enthusiasts, particularly Green Lantern fans! A copy of Showcase #22 is up for auction – it’s the first appearance of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, along with characters Carol Ferris and Abin Sur. This copy has been graded 6.0, and with the upcoming Lanterns series and renewed interest in Green Lantern, it could be a smart buy. The current bid is $5,500, and the auction closes in 14 days.
