Valve recently shared an updated preview of the new Steam Controller, and it appears promising.
The Steam Controller Puck is a standout feature, offering a convenient way to connect wirelessly and charge your controller – all in a really small package. It’s incredibly easy to set up; just plug it into your PC and you’re ready to play. The controller seems designed for simplicity and ease of use, which is great.
The new features – like the dual touchpads, grip buttons, and adjustable motion sensors – definitely stand out, and we’re really impressed with how versatile they are. The magnetic thumbsticks are also a great addition, and we anticipate they’ll solve the common problem of stick drift, though we’ll have to wait and see if that holds true.
If your controller’s battery dies, just place it on the Puck to easily recharge it for longer gaming sessions. It’s really convenient, and we expect to get a lot of use out of it when it’s released on May 4th. While it costs $99, the Steam Controller seems comparable to the DualSense, though the DualSense still has an edge with its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
