For the next two days, you can get a popular PC game for free on Steam! Unlike many free Steam games, this one is well-known and usually costs $15. The studio behind the game is giving it away for free until October 29th to celebrate their 10-year anniversary.
The free Steam game, 911 Operator, is proving to be quite popular with players. Out of over 5,400 reviews, a remarkable 87% are positive, meaning around 4,700 people recommend it. This earns the game a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, which is almost the highest possible score. Interestingly, becoming free hasn’t inflated this score – in fact, recent reviews are slightly less positive than before, currently at 86%.
About the Game
Released in 2017 by Jutsu Games and Games Operator, 911 Operator puts you in the role of an emergency dispatcher. As a PC game, you’ll handle incoming calls, figure out what’s happening, and send the appropriate help. However, situations aren’t always simple – you might deal with a medical crisis, a hoax call, or even a terrorist threat. The game aims for realism, but adds unexpected events to keep gameplay interesting.
911 Operator offers a Career Mode that can be completed in roughly 6 to 11 hours. Beyond that, a free play mode lets you continue dispatching emergency services in cities around the globe for many more hours of gameplay.
If you’re hoping to play a new free PC game on your Steam Deck, you’ll need to find another title, as it’s not currently supported. However, there are still options available! 911 Operator is a popular free game on Steam right now, and with Halloween approaching, a spooky horror game might also be a good choice.
