Stellar Blade CEO Issues Official Statement on the Sequel

Shift Up, the studio behind the 2024 game Stellar Blade, recently shared some early details about the sequel and what players can anticipate. The company has acknowledged some criticism of Stellar Blade, particularly regarding its story, and is committed to making significant improvements in the next installment.

Shift Up has been very active lately. They’ve recently released Stellar Blade, continue to support Goddess of Victory: Nikke, and are working on a game called Project Spirits. They’ve also acquired Unbound, the new studio of renowned game creator Shinji Mikami. Unbound will continue to develop original games for PC and consoles under Shift Up’s umbrella. Mikami is best known as the creator of Resident Evil, and more recently worked on games like The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush.

Stellar Blade 2 Will Be in Good Form When Revealed

Shift Up is still actively working on Stellar Blade 2, according to CEO Hyung-Tae Kim. In a recent interview, Kim explained that development is progressing steadily, though it may not seem that way from the outside. Unlike some developers who announce games too early, Shift Up prefers to wait until Stellar Blade 2 is polished and ready to be shown, ensuring it’s in a strong state before its reveal.

We’re putting a ton of effort into getting everything polished up, and we can’t wait to finally share the finished game with you all when it’s truly ready to play!

Details about the next Stellar Blade game are still limited, but it seems development is moving forward. Recent reports suggest the game was being researched with a potential release before 2027, and that it might launch on both PC and PlayStation 5 at the same time. While this information isn’t confirmed, we can expect more news soon. According to Kim, an announcement is likely coming in the near future, so fans can start getting excited.

Kim emphasized that every game Shift Up creates is important, just like any other development team feels about their projects. He wants to ensure the hard work of his staff isn’t wasted, which is why he’s hesitant to share too much about Stellar Blade 2 right now. He wants the reveal to be a significant moment for the developers, but confirmed the game is still in development and something to look forward to.

It’s still uncertain if Stellar Blade 2 will come out before 2027, address the issues fans had with the first game, or meet everyone’s high expectations. However, the original Stellar Blade was a major success for Shift Up, and they’re likely hoping the sequel will be just as popular.
