Disney Plus just released a new trailer for the second season of A Thousand Blows, which will start streaming in January.
Featuring actors Malachi Kirby, Stephen Graham, and Erin Doherty, the series is based on real-life accounts of people struggling to survive in London’s tough East End during the 1880s.
Season 2 begins a year after the first season ended. Hezekiah Moscow (Kirby) is deeply changed and struggling, and boxing promoter Sugar Goodson (Graham) is isolated from his family and battling a serious drinking problem.
Everything changes when Mary Carr (Doherty) unexpectedly returns with a daring plan: to reunite the Forty Elephants and finally defeat crime boss Indigo Jeremy. She’ll need help from a hesitant Hezekiah and Sugar to pull it off.
The latest trailer reveals Mary reuniting the Forty Elephants, while Hezekiah plots his revenge and Sugar returns to boxing. Mary declares, “It’s the dawn of a new era,” at the trailer’s end.

Season 2 will also feature returning cast members alongside Graham, Doherty, and Moscow, including James Nelson-Joyce as Edward “Treacle” Goodson, Darci Shaw as Alice Diamond, Hannah Walters as Eliza Moody, Nadia Albina as Verity Ross, Morgan Hilaire as Esme Long, Jemma Carlton as Belle Downer, and Caoilfhionn Dunne as Anne Glover.
The show will see the return of Jason Tobin as Mr. Lao, with Susan Lynch reprising her role as Jane Carr. Daniel Mays will be back as William ‘Punch’ Lewis, alongside Gary Lewis as Jack Mac, Aliyah Odoffin as Victoria Davies, and Robert Glenister as Indigo Jeremy.
Season 2 will feature some new faces, including Ned Dennehy, known for his role in Peaky Blinders, as Bull Jeremy, and Catherine McCormack, from Slow Horses, who will play Sophie Lyons.
