The popular series Castle Rock, based on the works of Stephen King, is now available on the leading streaming service.
You can now watch all of Castle Rock on Netflix. It’s been a great year for Stephen King fans, with new releases like The Life of Chuck, The Long Walk, The Monkey, and The Running Man, plus shows like The Institute and It: Welcome to Derry. This has also brought renewed interest to his earlier adaptations, which are currently available to stream.
The television series Castle Rock, created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, draws inspiration from multiple novels by Stephen King, weaving together characters and themes from across his writing. The show features André Holland as Henry Deaver, a lawyer who returns to the town of Castle Rock after receiving a strange and unsettling request.
The series Castle Rock boasts a talented cast, including Melanie Lynskey as Molly Strand, a psychic and real estate agent, and Jane Levy as Jackie Torrance, an aspiring writer and the daughter of Jack Torrance. Sissy Spacek plays Ruth Deaver, Henry’s estranged mother. Bill Skarsgård stars as a mysterious prisoner known as “The Kid” or “The Angel” at Shawshank Penitentiary.
Season 2 of Castle Rock featured several new actors, including Tim Robbins, Matthew Alan, Elsie Fisher, Paul Sparks, Yusra Warsama, and Barkhad Abdi. The season also brought back the character Annie Wilkes, who was the villain in Stephen King’s Misery.
Though it only ran for two seasons, Castle Rock received high praise from both critics and viewers. Currently, Season 1 has an 87% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 184 reviews from verified critics. Season 2 also earned an 89% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating, averaging from 36 verified critic reviews.
Stephen King’s Latest Television Adaptation Was a Massive Hit
The new Stephen King adaptation, It: Welcome to Derry, arrived on HBO in October and was a hit with fans. People were eagerly awaiting the It prequel series, and it’s been well-received by both critics and viewers. However, some are now questioning whether It: Welcome to Derry will be renewed for another season of scary stories.
Barbara Muschietti, a co-producer on the series, recently emphasized that everyone involved understands the weight of revisiting this story. She explained that while there’s a strong desire to return to Derry, Maine, from both the creative team and HBO, they are still carefully considering whether to move forward. Stephen King himself is also on board with the idea, but a final decision hasn’t been made yet.
As a huge fan of Stephen King adaptations, I’m excited to share where you can find some great ones! Right now, you can stream Castle Rock on Netflix, and if you’re looking for a deep dive into Derry, It: Welcome to Derry is available on HBO Max.
