The first images and a short trailer are out for “Legends,” a new true crime series by Neil Forsyth, who also wrote “The Gold.”
The new series, featuring Steve Coogan and Tom Burke, will launch on Thursday, May 7th – so fans have less than a month to wait!
The trailer begins with Don, a Customs official played by Coogan, explaining to his team that they’ll each need a new identity – a ‘legend’ – to keep themselves and their families safe. They’re going undercover to dismantle dangerous criminal organizations and stop the growing heroin problem in Britain during the early 1990s.
The trailer is packed with exciting action, including shootouts, car chases, and scenes filmed all over the world. You can view it immediately below.

I was really struck by something Forsyth said about this series. He’s done shows based on famous events before, digging into the lesser-known details. But this one is different. He explained that the incredible work these ‘Legends’ did is almost completely unknown to the public. It’s amazing to think there was this dedicated team accomplishing so much, largely without any recognition. It really makes you appreciate their story.

The show features a talented cast including Hayley Squires, Tom Hughes, Aml Ameen, Jasmine Blackborow, Douglas Hodge, Johnny Harris, Gerald Kyd, Numan Acar, Charlotte Ritchie, Joshua Samuels, Kem Hassan, and Thomas Coombes, alongside Burke and Coogan.
Burke portrays Guy, a man who’s unhappy with his job checking suitcases and feels unfulfilled in his personal life – he believes he has more potential.

He’s definitely a thrill-seeker. While some people might be happy with a simple bungee jump, he needs something more extreme. It feels like he has to push his limits in order to feel complete and move forward with his life.

In the early 1990s, British customs officials were struggling to stop the flow of illegal drugs into the country. To tackle the problem, they launched a secret operation: a small team of officers went undercover to infiltrate and dismantle Britain’s most dangerous drug gangs.
These weren’t professional spies, but everyday people from across the UK. They received minimal training and were then assigned the challenge of creating completely new lives for themselves within the criminal world. These fabricated identities were known as ‘Legends’.
