Our hopes for Stitch Head…
The film Stitch Head initially set out to satirize the excessive plastic surgery often seen among celebrities, imagining a world where repeated facelifts lead to unexpected results. However, the story evolved into something different. Stitch Head (played by Asa Butterfield) is a creature built from spare parts by a scientist who quickly abandons his creations – a bit like a fickle Simon Cowell. This first creation is left to care for the scientist’s subsequent, discarded monsters. He gently helps them overcome their frightening appearances and adjusts to life within the castle, offering comfort and reading them stories. The newest arrival is Creature (Joel Fry), a furry, one-eyed, three-armed monster, and the two quickly become friends.
Stitch Head and his dream…
A struggling circus owner named Fulbert Freakfinder discovers Stitch Head and sees him as a way to save his business. He convinces Stitch Head to join, falsely promising him fame and adoration, inspired by the negative attention Meghan Markle received on television. However, Stitch Head’s presence only terrifies the circus’s audiences, though one young girl, Arabella, accepts him for who he is. Ultimately, Arabella and a friend named Creature help Stitch Head escape the circus and its exploitative owner.
Sew….ur …So?
This animated film is based on Guy Bass’ graphic novel and directed by Steve Hudson, offering a fresh take on the classic Frankenstein story. The animation and character designs are both top-notch, and its message about self-acceptance and being true to yourself remains important for kids today. It’s a great choice for a family movie night!
