With just one episode remaining in the current season of Stranger Things, the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have given hints about what might happen to the characters from Hawkins.
Recently, viewers have been discussing a trailer where Steve tells Dustin he’s prepared to die. The Duffer brothers, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, have now addressed these reactions and theories.
“People are always worried about Steve,” said Ross.
It really wouldn’t have changed anything. People would have been scared of Steve even if the trailer had been completely empty,” Matt explained.
When questioned about the safety of popular characters like Steve and Hopper (played by David Harbour), the show’s creator, Matt, assured fans that the show won’t follow the unpredictable and often deadly path of ‘Game of Thrones’. He emphasized that viewers shouldn’t expect the same level of character risk as seen in ‘Westeros’.
I’m a big fan of Game of Thrones, but this show is quite different. You won’t see anything as shocking or violent as the Red Wedding happening here.

The finale has some unexpected twists, but our goal wasn’t to shock viewers. We hope the ending feels natural and satisfying, not upsetting or painful – like it was the only outcome that could have happened.
He added that Steve’s future was uncertain. While he didn’t know exactly what would happen, he suggested that, given how frequently Steve was being injured, a fatal outcome felt like the next likely possibility.

The final episodes of the show will premiere on New Year’s Eve in the US and the next morning in the UK. The kids of Hawkins are gearing up for a last, major battle with Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower), attempting to stop his plan to change the world by using twelve children he’s chosen. The danger is greater than ever, and some beloved characters might not make it out alive.
Will Steve and Hopper survive? It’s still a mystery. However, since no main characters have died so far in this final season, fans are excited to see how the decade-long story ends.
