The premiere of Stranger Things season 5 didn’t have the flawless, record-breaking launch Netflix hoped for – the debut actually caused the entire streaming service to go down.
Although the service is working again for most people, many are still experiencing slow performance and lower video quality. It’s not clear exactly what Netflix is doing to fix the problems, but things should improve as fewer users try to log in and start watching at the same time.
Netflix has faced technical problems before, causing frustration for viewers. For example, their first WWE stream had buffering and connection issues, and a live reunion show for ‘Love is Blind’ season 4 was delayed so much that Netflix decided to stop hosting live events altogether.
It won’t be long before we see what viewers think of the new episodes. But with episodes being released gradually through New Year’s Eve, Netflix has a chance to fix any issues that became apparent tonight and improve the viewing experience.
