With excitement building for the next installment of Stranger Things later this month, a sneak peek has been released for the new animated spin-off, “Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85.”
To celebrate Stranger Things Day (November 6th, the date Will Byers disappeared in 1983), the first look at the animated series has been revealed. We now have two new images and a short video clip showing the main characters in action.
Similar to the recent animated revivals of shows like X-Men ‘97 and Spider-Man, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, first revealed in April, aims to recapture the feeling of classic Saturday morning cartoons and appeal to viewers’ nostalgia.
The new season, taking place in the winter of 1985, centers around Eleven, Max, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will as they confront terrifying new monsters and a strange, supernatural mystery that’s plaguing their town. Fans will also be happy to know that Hopper will be returning.
The Duffer brothers, who created and executive produced both Stranger Things and the new series Tales from ‘85, said this idea was one of the first they considered when thinking about expanding the Stranger Things universe.
They really wanted to capture that classic ’80s cartoon vibe, and with animation, anything is possible! Eric and his team have been letting their imaginations run completely free, and it’s amazing to see!

Eric Robles, who leads the creative side of the show, explained that they’ve managed to bring a fresh, magical feel to the town of Hawkins. The story unfolds between the second and third seasons, and viewers will quickly discover things aren’t what they appear to be.
The show will likely introduce a new monster from the terrifying Upside Down, joining the Demogorgon and Demodogs. It seems to be a more dangerous take on the man-eating plant, Audrey II, from ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.
The actors who provide the voices for the characters have been announced: Brooklyn Davey Norstedt will voice Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport will be Max, Luca Diaz will play Mike, EJ Williams will be Lucas, Braxton Quinney will voice Dustin, Ben Plessala will be Will, and Brett Gipson will voice Hopper.
The voice cast is growing! Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips have joined the project.
Now that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things is finished, fans are understandably sad to see it end. But there’s still more Stranger Things to enjoy, with a new animated series and a stage production happening in the West End.
