The finale of Stranger Things season 5 sparked a lot of debate among viewers, though it wasn’t quite as controversial as endings like the one for Game of Thrones. It definitely left people with differing opinions.
The finale proved so controversial that one of the show’s actors has admitted he didn’t like it either.
Matthew Modine, the actor who played Dr. Brenner (or ‘Papa’ to Eleven) in seasons one, two, and four of the show, simply responded “nope” when asked on Instagram if he enjoyed the series finale.
So, someone asked me about that wild ‘Conformity Gate’ theory going around about Stranger Things. Apparently, some fans thought they were going to drop a surprise ninth episode, and it would turn out the whole finale was just a vision Vecna gave everyone – meaning he didn’t actually die. It’s been pretty thoroughly debunked, but it was a fun idea while it lasted!
When asked about a possible ninth episode for the season, he said he was hoping for one, for the sake of the fans.

Despite the ‘Conformity Gate’ rumors being false, more stories set in the world of Stranger Things are planned, and they’re coming relatively soon.
A new animated Stranger Things spin-off, called Tales from ‘85, is coming to Netflix later this year. It takes place between seasons two and three of the original series.
A new live-action series is also being developed, but so far, the creators have only shared what storylines it won’t include, keeping most details under wraps.
Speaking with Deadline, co-creator Ross Duffer clarified details about a potential spin-off. He explained that Hopper’s mention of ‘Montauk’ wasn’t a hint at a spin-off series. The reference was simply a nod to longtime fans who know the show originally began as a project called ‘Montauk’.
This isn’t about expanding the story with Holly and her family. It’s a much more focused idea. As we’ve mentioned before, we’re in the very early stages of developing a spin-off, but it will explore a completely original story and set of legends.
This show is connected to the original series and will address questions viewers still have, including some left unanswered by the finale. The spin-off will explore these, but it will also tell its own unique story and build its own world.
