Beware of minor spoilers for the final season of Stranger Things. Linnea Berthelsen, who plays Kali (also known as Eight), has hinted that the show’s ending will be deeply moving for longtime fans. After a surprising return to the series, Berthelsen’s character, who initially seemed like a villain, is now fighting on the side of the heroes in Season 5.
The actor recently discussed the return of her Stranger Things character, who many fans feel hasn’t gotten enough attention, in an interview with Radio Times. While she didn’t reveal any specific plot points about the show’s ending, Berthelsen hinted that Kali will have a “resolution.” She did, however, share that the season finale will be emotionally intense.
Honestly, that’s all I can really say. Her story has reached its conclusion, and it felt incredibly fitting and moving to me. I think everyone – the fans who’ve always been so amazing, the people who created the show, and all of us who acted in it – are going to feel a lot of emotion when it airs.
I got to be at the table read, which was incredible. I was so lucky to be in that room and witness the ending play out, and honestly, everyone was tearing up – it was just a really emotional experience. Every time I’ve read the script since then, it’s hit me hard – it’s so beautiful and just brilliantly written.
Kali first appeared in Season 2’s “The Lost Sister,” but she returned with a significant role in Season 5. It’s revealed that Kali is Dr. Kay’s secret weapon designed to oppose Eleven, and a crucial part of his plan to create other children with psychic abilities. When Eleven and her friends break into the lab, she frees Kali and asks for her help in the fight against Vecna.
The final episodes of Stranger Things will focus on the Hawkins group making one last stand against the powerful monster, especially after the shocking events of “The Bridge.” Fans are eagerly wondering who will live and who will die, and also what the future holds for the world of Stranger Things.
