Strictly Come Dancing’s Ellie Goldstein stunned by surprise message from British pop music icon

Tonight on Strictly Come Dancing, the remaining couples performed dances inspired by legendary musical artists. However, not everyone received a special message from the artists themselves!

Ellie Goldstein and her partner Vito Coppola danced the salsa to Spice Girls songs, and that’s what earned her a special surprise.

Claudia Winkleman announced she had a surprise for the Malory Towers star after they performed their routine, which earned a score of 28 from the judges.

Okay, so this person started talking to me, and she was like, ‘We know you’re a huge Spice Girls fan, especially Baby Spice!’ Then she said someone really wanted to get in touch with me. It was so exciting!

Ellie looked visibly stunned, as she told Vito: “I can’t believe that!”

Ellie was clearly thrilled when a video message from Emma Bunton appeared, in which the star said, “I’ve been following your performances each week, and you’re my favorite!”

I was so thrilled to hear I’m your favourite Spice Girl! It really means a lot to me, and I think you’re amazing. Thank you for enjoying our music – the other girls send their love and wish you the best of luck!

Ellie wasn’t the only contestant to get a message from someone she admired. After Vicky Pattison and Kai Widdrington performed their dance to Cheryl’s song ‘Fight for This Love,’ Cheryl herself sent them a recorded message.

Tonight’s episode marks the start of Icons Week on the show, featuring the music of legendary artists like Beyoncé, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash. This is the first episode since hosts Claudia and Tess Daly announced they will be leaving the show after the current season.

I absolutely loved seeing the judges get involved too! Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke all dressed up as iconic musicians – Craig as John Lennon, Motsi as Grace Jones, Shirley as Elvis Presley, and Anton as David Bowie. It was such a fun touch!

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 26th October at 7:15pm.
