Karen Carney and Carlos Gu, the Strictly Come Dancing pair who received a perfect score last week, continued their strong performance with a vibrant Samba set to ‘The Rhythm of Life’ from Sweet Charity. Both the judges and viewers loved their dance.
The TV personality and ex-footballer had previously earned a high score of 40 with her partner during a dance to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” While their performance in Musicals Week, themed around the 1960s, wasn’t quite as strong, it was still well-liked by the judges.
Karen and Carlos received a score of 34 from the judges, and their fellow dancer, Neil Jones, was very excited about their performance.
Neil unexpectedly shouted “Yeah!” while judge Motsi Mabuse was giving her feedback on a dance, and Motsi playfully responded to his interruption.
She told Neil, “If you find a partner next year, I’ll make sure to pick favorable numbers.”
Motsi held up a paddle with the number “2” on it and warned the audience to be quiet, saying she’d use it if they didn’t.
Neil certainly enjoyed her response and could be seen laughing away when the cameras cut to him.

When she continued, Motsi was full of praise for Karen and Carlos.
She told him, “You really went for it with that dance! You hit every beat, even through some tricky changes in the music. Your solo parts were particularly strong. I would have loved to see a little more hip movement, but you were very convincing overall.”
I was so thrilled with their samba! Motsi gave it an eight, and when combined with Craig’s eight and nines from Shirley and Anton, they ended up with a fantastic 34 points. It was a well-deserved score, and I was absolutely delighted for them!
Shirley Ballas was very complimentary and seemed to caution the other contestants about Karen and Carlos, suggesting they were strong competitors.
I really enjoyed the entire performance, and I want to start by saying that. I do have a couple of observations, but I was particularly impressed with your balance – it’s exceptional compared to other contestants we’ve seen.
She added: “All in all, you are quite the force to be reckoned with, in my opinion.”
Okay, so we’re down to the wire on Strictly, and honestly, those positive remarks are exactly what Karen needed. They’ve given her a real boost of confidence and, I think, genuinely put her back in the running to take home the glitterball trophy. It’s a crucial time, and she seems ready to really go for it.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday, 7th December at 7:45pm.
