A real standout moment for me at Summer Game Fest was the unexpected reveal of Stuntman: Hollywood. It’s a remake of a beloved classic I’d given up hope of ever seeing again.
This arcade game puts you behind the wheel and challenges you to recreate famous movie car chases! You’ll need to follow precise directions – like hitting jumps, drifting through turns, and narrowly avoiding crashes – to successfully film each scene.
What’s new in this version is the inclusion of officially licensed movies, TV shows, and the vehicles from them. The game will still have original content, but it will also feature levels and scenarios inspired by popular franchises like Back to the Future, The Fast and the Furious, Miami Vice, and others.
It seems the news blackout is over! Gameplay videos are now being released, and the game looks incredibly enjoyable. Check out this level where you navigate a car through an earthquake.
There’s another clip of a different stage, based on The Fast and the Furious.
You can see more footage scattered throughout this preview as well:
The initial gameplay footage, showing a drive through debris during an earthquake, strongly resembles games like MotorStorm Apocalypse and Split/Second: Velocity.
In my book, that’s a very good thing indeed.
It’s hard to say for sure what playing will be like, but from what I’ve seen, I’m really looking forward to trying it.
