Subnautica 2 Early Access Roadmap Includes Sprint, Voice Chat, and Trading Along With New Content

After a successful launch with over two million players diving into early access for Subnautica 2 on Xbox Series X/S and PC, Unknown Worlds has shared its plans for the game’s development. They’ve confirmed that previously announced features – including new environments, creatures, resources, tools, and story content – are still planned for release in the future.

Players can look forward to a lot of improvements in the next update (1.1)! We’re working on almost every part of the game, including things like Biomods, Blight Encounters, shipwrecks, vehicle docking, the PDA, and crafting. Plus, we’re adding some exciting new features like a storage cache, more slots for passive Biomods, and – get ready for this – sprinting!

Update 1.2 is all about making co-op play smoother and more fun. We’ve added features like voice chat, emotes, and more ways to customize your character. You’ll also be able to trade items and revive teammates. We’re also improving the heads-up display, making recipes easier to find, and enhancing the base building tool.

There aren’t any firm release dates yet, which is in line with the team’s approach of gathering feedback from players. The development plan is flexible and open to changes. They really want to hear from the community about what players think should be prioritized as they work on Subnautica 2. Player feedback is crucial to how the game evolves, especially during Early Access! You can also anticipate improvements to performance, bug fixes, and adjustments to gameplay balance.

I’m so excited for Subnautica 2! The developers, Unknown Worlds, have said they’re not rushing the full release, even though they originally thought it would be in early access for a couple of years. They want to make sure it’s truly polished and ready before they launch it, which I totally respect. They’ll be sharing more news soon, and if you’re curious about what to expect from the early access period, they’ve got a detailed feature you can check out!
