The Collector Leviathan is one of four massive creatures in Subnautica 2, and you’ll need to locate and scan it. This isn’t easy – it only appears under certain conditions, and if it finds you, it’s a dangerous and quick threat.

This guide will help you find and scan the Collector Leviathan in Subnautica 2.

Collector Leviathan Location

Swim east from the Lifepod, staying close to the surface, for about a kilometer. When the water gets cloudy, around 950 meters, descend to a depth of 50 meters. Then, scan the water from north to east to find the giant squid – it has bright purple markings.

Bio Scan The Collector Leviathan

Scanning the Collector Leviathan is easiest with the Tadpole. Keep your Bioscanner equipped in a quick-access slot so it’s ready to use immediately.

When you find the Leviathan, use the Tadpole to draw its attention. The Leviathan will grab the Tadpole with its tentacles and then push it away. Right after that, quickly leave the Tadpole and swim up to the Leviathan – it should be nearby – to scan it from directly above its head.

Once the scan finishes, quickly head to the Tadpole before the Collector Leviathan attacks again. Even inside, you won’t be safe, so descend to 250 meters to lose the Leviathan and start heading back towards your Lifepod. It should give up chasing you soon.
