Does the thought of being underwater in a video game ever make you a little anxious? If so, Subnautica 2 is about to offer you and your friends a shared experience of that same thrilling, and sometimes claustrophobic, feeling in its alien underwater world.
Unknown Worlds Entertainment recently shared a new developer update detailing how they’ve integrated multiplayer into the game. They want to assure players that the game will still be a great single-player experience, but you’ll also have the option to easily play with friends. Plus, with cross-platform play and dedicated player lists, finding and joining sessions will be simple and smooth, potentially creating some fantastic new memories.
The team is really excited about making the game run well on handheld devices, and they especially recommend the Steam Deck. Overall, development of Subnautica 2 is progressing smoothly, overcoming past challenges as it heads towards its 2026 release. An early access version will be available later this year on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and it will also be included with Xbox Game Pass from day one.
