Sucker Punch Enters a New Era as Co-Founder Brian Fleming Departs

After 30 years with the Seattle studio, Brian Fleming, a co-founder of Sucker Punch, has announced he’s leaving the company. This departure appears to have been in the works for a while.

This leader has been instrumental in creating popular PlayStation franchises like Sly Cooper, inFAMOUS, and the new Ghost of Yotei. Sony announced they’ve been collaborating with Fleming throughout the year to guarantee a smooth transition and future success for the studio.

I’m really excited to hear about the new leadership at the studio! Starting January 1st, Jason Connell and Adrian Bentley – both really experienced guys – will be heading things up. It sounds like their main job will be to help the team create games with strong stories and memorable characters, which is exactly what I want to see!

Connell was a Co-Creative Director for both Ghost of Tsushima and the upcoming Ghost of Yotei. Bentley recently held the position of Technical Director.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Sucker Punch, and it’s awesome to hear they’re putting two of their most talented people in charge. Sony seems really confident they’ll bring exactly what the studio needs – a perfect mix of creativity and technical skill – and honestly, I think they’re right!

Nate Fox will continue to play a key leadership role as Co-Creative Director. Although many might expect him to take over from Fleming, it seems he prefers to dedicate himself fully to creative work.

Sucker Punch is entering a new phase with new leaders, but the core values and creative identity of the studio will remain the same.

It’s unclear what Fleming plans to do next, but he likely deserves a good break after all his hard work.
